The second boathouse was perhaps the most democratic structure built inside the park. The design was inviting and engaging for the general public. There was an open porch area in the front that encouraged gatherings. On the lakeside, a “mansion-style staircase flowed all the way to the water level.” This element connected visitors uniquely to the water and allowed them to touch the lake.
